When Social Worker Assistant Sabrina Prescott reached out to Hot Radio,

inviting them to broadcast their Hot Breakfast show live from our Dorset hub, she wasn’t sure if she’d receive a response. However, before she knew it, plans were in motion, and in less than a month, Hot Breakfast DJs Coco and Sparky had arrived – the show was on!

Despite the early 7am start, members of the Dorset team turned up full of enthusiasm, eager to be part of the excitement and share insights about fostering.

Branch Administrator Macayla Beckett, says: "We definitely had so much fun. There were such amazing energy and enthusiasm from the team and at Hot Radio.”

The Dorset team get ready to cheer!

Despite the early hour, lots of the Dorset team still came along to share their enthusiam with the presenters.

Our Participation Lead, Molly Lloyd, spoke about Blue Sky Fostering events for young people, including a recent opportunity where they worked with a music producer to create their own track. She also highlighted how our foster carer and family events are open to extended families and support networks, ensuring everyone feels included.

Molly illuminates the presenters on how many different kinds of events Blue Sky Fostering run for young people, foster carers and extended families and support networks.

Team Manager Charlene Bond shared her inspiring journey with Blue Sky Fostering, starting as a Social Work Assistant 16 years ago before being supported through her Social Work training to qualify as a Social Worker. Today, she leads the Dorset hub alongside Team Manager Vanessa Bomphrey. Charlene and Vanessa also discussed the different types of fostering available, such as Therapeutic Led Care and Parent and Child Fostering.

Local Blue Sky foster carer Danielle Gillingham provided a heartfelt account of her experience, from her initial journey into fostering to the ongoing support she receives today.

Coco and Sparky did a fantastic job of highlighting the benefits of Blue Sky Fostering. As we look ahead to 2025, we are proud to be celebrating our twentieth anniversary, alongside our sixth consecutive Ofsted Outstanding rating this year.

The infectious energy and enthusiasm of the Dorset team were perfectly matched by the presenters, making the entire experience a truly positive one for all involved.
